Candella believed that strength should come from form not mass. This belief led to an extensive exploration of tensile shell structures. His nickname became “The Shell Builder” because of this structural favoritism.

Trying to make it as even as possible before pouring on the concrete:

We used the same frame three times. Each shell got to rest for about one day before we removed it from the frame and started on the next one.

The three shells are now permanently exhibited outside the Betong Øst-offices.
